I-Phone, Yeah!!!

As some of you may know I have been hinting to my husband for weeks that I wanted a new phone.  We already use AT&T so I had narrowed it down to the I-Phone or the Blackberry Bold.

For the first time ever, I wanted a cool phone.

I am super excited to say that my husband took the hint and got me an I-Phone.  I can't wait to set it up with all the fun applications.

Anybody have words of wisdom about this phone or any info about what the must haves for realtors might be?

Hope Santa was good to you all as well.

Influential Events of 2008

Its always fun at the end of every year to look back at the events and analyze them.  There will be several questions about who were the most influential people, what were the most important events, etc.  Here is my list for the most influential or moving events of 2008 for me:

 1.         The Election of Barack Obama.

As I have mentioned previously, this moved me to tears.  I was so excited to see us look beyond race and vote based on the candidate's character.  I never thought I would see it in my lifetime and I am grateful that I was wrong.  I was very proud during this entire election cycle to see how much minority and women candidates were able to be successful.

 2.         The 2008 Summer Olympics.

I am a huge fan of the summer games but this year was my favorite Olympics ever!  Being from Jamaica, watching Usain Bolt break three world records and seeing a Jamaican holding the title of "World's Fastest Man" and "Worlds Fastest Woman" was exhilarating.  It was finally a chance for the world to appreciate the magnificent sprinting talent that this great island nation produces.

Michael Phelps was the other big inspiration from these games.  Watching him swim with such skill and determination to place himself firmly a top the swimming greats was a true wonder.

 3.         The Passing of Tim Russert.

I am always amazed when a celebrity dies and it feels so personal.  I still feel sad when I turn the on the tv on a Sunday morning and he is not there.  I found myself missing him throughout the entire political campaign.  If I find myself missing him, a man I never met, then I can only imagine how his family and friends are struggling without him.

What events inspired you?

Beware the dreaded facebook virus!!

I am a complete facebook addict!  I love looking at the photos of my friends and their families and seeing how they have changed.  I have reconnected with many old friends this year since joining and i've even see people that I hadn't seen in almost 20 years.

Imagine my horror when I realize that facebook may have been the reason my computer is currently useless.

The details of the virus are on the facebook home page (and all over the web).  However, you apparently receive a video, click on it then it tells you to update flash player and then ...BAM!  We are thinking that my son actually clicked on it while he was playing on the computer (he's 3).

Since then the computer turned off the virus program, would not let us turn it back on and keeps randomly opening websites all over the place.  After trying for hours to clean it ourselves we threw in the towel and took it to the geek squad.

The verdict:  $200 and 3-5 business days before I can get my computer back.  YIKES!!!!

Transitions can be a huge pain!

I have a client who is trying to rent a home.  He is from out of town and only has a short window of time to find something.  He found listings yesterday that he wanted to look at early this morning.  I set about trying to make appointments.  Only a few were listed with a showing service and I was able to set those up.  All the others said "Call office" or "Call lister".  Of course no one has returned my call.  They all have sentrilock boxes and I don't convert until Tuesday.  No way for me to get in until someone calls me with the magic one-day code.

My client and I had to postpone our showings until tomorrow evening simply because I don't have the correct lockbox opener.  Many of them are vacant so we could have gone even without contacting anyone if only I had transferred to sentri lock already.

I will be very happy when this transition period is over and we can go back to having one lockbox and I won't have to juggle hundreds of combos and one-day codes.
