KJ Autocare, Inc - Washington, DC

This morning as I was driving along my wonderful car alerted me in big, red letters to correct my tire pressure.  These words send instant panic through my pores because I don't know how to check my tire pressure (that's why I have a husband) and I have no desire to be broken down on the side of the highway.  Anyway, I stop at a gas station and figure out how to do it and end up on my merry way.

On my way home the dreaded red letters returned.  Clearly, i'm an idiot and I didn't do it correctly.  Panic once again begins to set it.

I see a gas station up the road with KJ Autocare, Inc.  I pull in and beg for help.

The technician, Byron was wonderfully helpful.  We explored the tires to make sure that there was no leak.  The the owner, Paul Anderson, checked my tire pressures for me and correctly inflated each tire.  When I asked how much I owed him, he said "NO CHARGE!" 

I am always impressed with people who do things nice for others with no expectations for themselves.  I will happily patronize KJ Autocare in the future and will try to make a point to buy my gas there whenever possible.

Jump Rope for Heart

My 7 year old daughter has decided that she wants to participate in her school's Jump Rope for Heart.  This year she not only wants to participate in the actual day but she also wants to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Even though I am in no mood to fundraise, I am also a big believer in charity and since she is interested then I believe it is my job to support her philanthropic efforts.

She has been on the phone the last fews days with aunts, uncles, and grandmas, etc securing pledges.  She is incredibly competitive and wants to be the person who raises the most money in her class - I don't know where she could have gotten than competitive streak :-). She is very proud of what she has accomplished so far.

We have set her up with an online page for the event so that she can accept online donations.

If anyone would like to support her efforts please feel free to stop by.  All donations (no matter the amount) will be graciously accepted and greatly appreciated.  Feel free to reblog this or to forward the link to anyone who might be interested in helping.

Protect us from this pollen!

Thanks to the horrible and incredibly wet Winter that we had, the DC area is "enjoying" some of the highest pollen counts the area has ever seen.  What does that mean?  It means that everyone who is unlucky enough to have seasonal allergies is really suffering.

In my house, there is an endless chorus of sneezing, nose blowing, coughing, and people yelling "Where are the eye drops?"  We have been hiding out inside the house for the past week.  We turned on the AC so we didn't have to open the windows and have tried to stop the kids from playing outside.

It almost feels like cruelty to tell kids that they can't go outside and enjoy this glorious weather.  I gave in today and the kids went to play golf with their dad.  I shudder to think what everyone is going to sound and look like when they get home.

Let's hope that since the pollen is so plentiful so early that this will be a short season and we can all go back to enjoying the warm weather that we have craved all Winter.
