Why Now Dishwasher, Why Now?

After our incredibe indulgence yesterday we spent some time cleaning up the kitchen and loading all the dishes in the dishwasher.  I turned it on as I was on my way to bed last night.  I'll be honest I did not look at it at all today I just assumed that all was well.  Turns out, the dishes are not washed, they are just as dirty as when I put them in yesterday and my dishwasher which is 1.5 years old will not come on.

We have tried all the trouble-shooting tips in the manual but no luck.

Please, please don't tell me I am going to have to wash all these by hand!!!

I assume that the unit has power, that you have checked for a clogged drain, and verified that the water source is working. Did the pump start when the unit was turned on? If the unit has a sophisticated electronic control panel, have you tried turning off the circuit breaker to see if it would re-set?

Good luck!

If you want clean dishes, I guess you'll have to start washing!

Oh no.....if it makes you feel better a couple of months ago my refrigerator broke right after I went food shopping.  They definitely don't make appliances like they use to, my refrigerator was only five years old.  One day I'll take my own advice and buy a home warranty.

Ironic, I just blogged about homeowner warranties this morning before the blog bottom post! I'm sorry about your dishwasher. NOT a fun thing to buy right after Christmas.

John - we've tried everything with little luck

Katie - I refuse to wash them right now

Michelle - I just said to my husband that we should get a home warranty

Diane - I guess the dishwasher is on vacation too

Karin - I'm hoping whatever is wrong won't cost an arm and a leg

Hi Stacey,

It seems as though appliances talk to each other when we are not are around. This year I replaced fairly new appliances in the kitchen when they died days after each other. First the fridge, then the microwave and then the dishwasher.

Don - I hope the dishwasher doesn't influence the fridge to do anything crazy

Dawn - nope it never worked.  Good thing my mother-in-law likes to wash dishes.  My kids are too young still, unfortunately.
