Today's Showings Left Me High!

My buyers and I pulled up to our first house this morning and we were greeted by a big man who opened the door wearing just a pair of pants.  He asked us if we could come back because he didn't know we were coming.

He was kinda menacing so we left thinking that we wouldn't bother with that house.

However, after seeing one horrible house after another we decided to swing back by there.

We approached very sheepishly and knocked on the door.  It took awhile for someone to open it but they invited us in.  That's when we were assaulted by the unmistakable smell of marijuana.  Clearly we had interrupted someone's enjoyment of their Sunday morning spliff.  In the bedrooms the smell of marijuana was coupled with the burning incense.

It wasn't a bad house but we couldn't wait to get out of there.

Between the marijuana and the mold in the house before that one I am taking my allergy medicine tonight.

Hi Stacey-Ann ~ That's a riot. I've never had that happen. In fact I think I've come across cigarette smoke in a property fewer than half a dozen times around here - live smoking I mean.

You never know what you will see.  I showed 8 houses yesterday to an investor and all were in to good of shape...Now that doesn't happen often!

I am still shaking my head over this one! Glad that you survived. I went through a period of showing a lot of short sales to two clients - i got so tired of the unemployed men sleeping through the afternoons! and the foreclosures that had been winterized - no heat, no light, no bathrooms! Yuck!

Just bad form on the part of the seller.  You might mention something to the listing agent.
