Prince George's County Executive Arrested

Prince George's County is all abuzz with the news that the County Executive, Jack Johnson, and his wife were arrested yesterday.

Johnson is accused of taking kickbacks from real estate developers.

The allegations are very damning including that Johnson told his wife to flush a check down the toilet and that Mrs. Johnson had $79,000 hidden in her bra at the time of the arrest.

Johnson has been the Prince George's County executive since 2002, his tenure ends on December 6, 2010.  Prior to his position as County Executive he served at the PG County Prosector.

Mrs. Johnson was just elected to the Prince Georges County Council.

It is always sad to see the people that we have elected becoming overcome by greed and losing their principles.

Well, that's an interesting twist on stuffing your bra......I think toilet paper would be much softer.

She either has a really big bra or the denominations were in really high bills.

Hi Stacey-Ann, Corruption at any level county, state or federal is sad and a terrible thing.  I guess since we have only allegations so far, the only crime is the choice of bra stuffing :-)

Ann - Toilet paper would have gotten her in less trouble too

Rich - I didn't even think about that - funny!

Mary - the evidence doesn't look good for them

Valerie - I agree, the reality is incredibly sad

This is certainly a sad addition to the already sad state of affairs for Prince George County. Moving on over to the bright side of this is that hopefully this will flush out the bad and allow the good to take over and move PG forward. It is a great county to be a part of.

Hi Stacey,

I was so busy that week;-) that I didn't find out the news until that evening. I was shocked and probably had my mouth open wider and wider as the allegations continued to come out. YIKES!!

It is very sad to see and continues to get even sadder.

Wow! That is really ugly! It undermines my entire trust system! Please keep us updated as news is very slow reaching the shore! (LOL!)
