This lazy Thanksgiving break was just what the doctor ordered.

Usually for Thanksgiving we either go to my aunt's house for dinner or travel to my husband's sister in Florida.  This year we did neither.  I have been feeling exhausted and the idea of battling the crowds in the airport was less than appealing.

I joked that we were going to eat pizza for dinner.  Instead we headed to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in DC.  It was my children's first meal at a really nice restaurant.  They enjoyed crabcakes and steak and I enjoyed my lobster.  When we were done we were surprised with a to go serving of turkey, gravy, and stuffing for each of us.

On the way home, we realized that the Smithsonian museusms were open so we stopped and walked around the American History museum.

The rest of the weekend we hung out at home watching tv and relaxing.  We did go shopping briefly on Saturday when the crowds had dissipated.

Tomorrow, my lazy respite is over and we all go back to reality, work and school.  However, this weekend with no fuss, no traffic, and lots of quality family time was just what the doctor ordered!!!!!!

Sometimes some down time is much needed in this business. You will be more focused and I am sure the family time was needed too!

Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving to me...and the start of a wonderful tradition.  I love the Smithsonian Museums and especially the Museum of American History - one of my faves.  What a nice day you all had.

Glad you had a great time.  I am feeling too rested and want to get back to work tomorrow.

Kim - I already feel more focused

Susan - That was my first trip to the American History Museum

Gene - I'm ready to get back to work too - wish I didn't have to be up so early for the kids though

Stacey-Ann,

I'm glad the Holidays were great for you and you were able to be with family and have a great time.  I too was with my family and thankful to be at my daughter's (Lacey Ann) house for Thanksgiving.  I was recently in a serious accident and am wheel chair bound so I have so many things to be thankful for... being alive is one!  Thanks for sharing your Holiday with all of us here at AR.
