Pay it Forward - Christmas Shopping

Each year we get one of those Salvation Army angels to purchase gifts for.  This year we got 2 kids who are similar ages to my own children.

It's amazing to see my kids in Target running around choosing gifts for a chid that they don't even know.  It's really gratifying to know that we are raising children who understand the importance of giving back to those who have less than we do.

After we had already purchased the gifts for our "angels" I learned of another family that has had tremendous difficulty over the past few years.  I had planned to buy one more gift for one of the members of that family.  Instead, I found myself drawn so much to their story that I could not help but buy a gift for each of them.  $100 to me means the world to someone else.

I can not believe how happy it has made me and my kids to buy gifts for people we don't even know.  It's a way to re-affirm the spirit of the season and importance of giving back.

Dr. Stacey-Ann Baugh- You have the spirit! Isn't it nice to see our children learn the value of giving and to see them develop gratitude?!

Stacey-the lessons we teach our children when they are young stay with them throughout their lives.  My "kids" both adults now are still giving to those less fortunate during the holidays.

Good for you and your children! It is important that children learn that Christmas is a great time to give to others just like Christ GAVE his life for us. You're a great mommy! May God bless you and yours this Christmas season!!

What a great mom you are!  This is one of the reasons this is my favorite time of year.  Our office adopted 58 local needy kids for Christmas this year - and like you said, a few hundred dollars for us is Starbucks for a month, but can make a world of difference in the world of a needy child.

Stacey, these kind of lessons stay with them forever and teach them to pay it forward throughout their life.  It just becomes part of them.

Stacey, “I can not believe how happy it has made me and my kids to buy gifts for people we don't even know.” This makes me smile inside and out. I read something similar on another pay-it-forward post … and it created the same feeling inside. It just feels so good to give and help others! Way to go!

My Sydney spent over 20 minutes trying to determine which doll her "Angel Tree Friend" would like better.  It made me very proud.  Those gifts may just make a Christmas where there may have been none, possibly changing the course of a life!

It probably would have been easier to just pick up something extra while you shopped on your own.   Our children learn from our actions way more than from our words.  You are making the world a better place not only by your contributions, but by helping your children to learn very valuable life lessons!
