Luray Caverns - Great Day Trip from Washington, DC

Luray Caverns - Great Day Trip from Washington, DC

Luray Caverns is located Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and is between a 90 minutes and 2 hour drive from most cities in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

Luray Caverns provides breathtaking views of nature at it's finest.

Luray Caverns

Luray Caverns features a 1.25 mile self-guided tour of the cave.  The walk takes about one hour.  Wear sensible shoes because there are some areas that are wet and a bit slippery.

The admission to Luray Caverns also allows you to experience the Car and Carriage Caravan Museum and the Luray Valley Museum and Gardens.

The grounds of Luray Caverns also features a one acre garden maze and stunning views of the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains.

If you are looking for a great family experience within a easy drive of Washington DC be sure to consider a visit to Luray Caverns.

My entire family enjoyed the visit.  My 6 year old son even asked if we could go back there soon.

I haven't visited Luray Caverns in a while.  Great place to go in the heat of the summer.

Cindy - It was pleasant since this was a hot weekend

Rich - You definitely need to add it to the agenda.  Well worth the drive.

This is a really nice localism post. I used to take the boys to all the caves around the Hill Country. I would love to visit yours too!!

One of my very favorite destinations when I was a boy!  Nice to see pictures of the caverns again!  When I was a teen I went on a few guided, genuine spelunking trips to the Fox, Trout, and Senate caves ... does anyone still offer trips like that?
