VW Ad Controversy

Volkswagen leaked one of their Superbowl commercials feauturing some men talking with a Jamaican accent because they are so happy in their VW.

The first time I saw the ad I laughed out loud.  I thought it was genius!

I couldn't believe when there was all this drama suggesting that the commercial was racist.

As a proud Jamaican I can say that I am not even slightly offended by the ad.  If anything, I am honored that my little island has such a large reach in terms of our culture that we would make a Superbowl ad.

Not one Jamaican person have I heard suggest that they are offended by the ad.

I swear sometimes we take ourselves too seriously.

Lighten up and learn to laugh and have fun - that truly is the Jamaican way.

Thanks for your feedback.  It is good to know that this ad did not go over the line.

When the Jamica tourist board does the  "get happy" commercials you can't help but smile.   I'm surprised they wouldn't be after VW for stealing their line :-)

Everyone trying to be politically correct is becoming a joke. We all need to chill.

Hilarious. Maybe I am not sharp enough to imagine that this would offend. That is possibly because my husband calls me a "carrot cruncher". Should I be offended?

Hi Stacey Ann. I actually enjoyed watching the video.  Didn't think it was offensive either, but I am not from the Island. BTW, I did stopped after reading Bridget's post about you passing the 500K mark in the rain. Congratulations!!!

Dr. Stacey-Ann,  There will always be those who find everything offensive.  I agree with you ... we all need to lighten up and learn to laugh and have fun.  Life is only serious if we choose to make it serious.  The commercial is funny ... as are most Super Bowl commercials.

Jerry - thank you

Kathleen - so true.  I look forward to the commercials - sometimes more than the game.
