Well thankfully my water was not out too long. I got back water by about 3pm, the entire area was restored sometime around 9pm. The restrictions on watering the yard, dishwashing, and laundry, etc have been lifted. We are finally able to shower. However, the boil water restrictions are in place for at least 3 days. They are suggesting that you not use the tap water to do anything like prepare food, drink, make ice, or even brush your teeth without first boiling it. I stocked up on bottled water for those purposes. The problem is that with the loss of water pressure there is the potential for contamination from the likes of ecoli and salmonella.
Here's the kicker....ALL restaurants in Montgomery County north of the beltway (includes Olney, Wheaton, Gaithersburg, Germantown, & Burtonsville) are closed until further notice. That's 1200 restaurants CLOSED! Only some areas in Rockville and Poolesville aren't included because they have their own water supply.
For a family that eats out as much as we do, this could be a major problem. I've dug out the slow cooker and got some beef stew going for dinner. Now I just have to figure out lunch for the kids and hope that this doesn't last too long.

Vickie - Absolutely!
Sometimes inconvienences like these help us get back to basics and enjoy the small stuff! I hope things get back to normal for you soon.
The restaurants' temporary closing may wind up being a blessing. Just think of the money you will save. You will probably eat healthier, too! :)
Hi Stacey!
I hope your water is back on & that it is usable!
Take care,
Oh my Stacey..... Glad you got your water back.... Hopefully the resturants can get opened up again soon.. That can be a large loss of income for them too.
Wimps! I cook everyday!
Wimps! I cook everyday!
The restaurants are back open today. I can't imagine what a toll being closed 2 days has taken on their bottom line. We did eat at least one good home cooked meal. I aspire to be that person who cooks every day, someday.
Kind of late for me here but being without water sucks. I'm not a restaurant person as i prefer to cook at home.
