Back to School Time

Its that time of year again.  Parents love it, kids dread it.  We are rapidly approaching the first day of school.  In Prince George's County that day is Monday, August 25 and in Montgomery County its Tuesday, August 26.  This is just a reminder to be extra careful on the streets in the mornings because there are going to be more kids around than you have been used to in the past months.

Its rough to get back into the school mode.  We have to get my daughter to the bus at 7:09am.  All of a sudden those luxurious sleeping in mornings are gone.  Good luck to all the other parents who are going to struggle through this first week until we get back into a nice routine.  I'll be sleep deprived with you.

The children here in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada don't start up until Tuesday, September 2nd.  So we have a few more days to relax.  My daughters are both older girls; Jenny is 20 and in her 3rd year of business at University of New Brunswick - Saint John campus and my 16 year old is in her Senior year at Saint John High School, the oldest high school in Canada.  The high school is over 200 years old.

Both girls can't wait for school to begin and mom is ready to get her life back.  LOL

I will have a 1st grader!  Crazy to think we will be at the bus stop at 8 am, no more sleeping in until 9:30 then pancakes at 10:00!!

And the video games our kids play, I try to get them to go to bed at 10pm.

Richard - That seems way early to me.

Anne-Marie - Kids in Jamaica don't go back until then too, similar high school system I believe.

Anna - I have a first grader too.  i'm in the same boat, not sure how we'll manage.

Todd - I'm going to have to try to get mine to bed by 8:30 so they can wake in the morning.  That's hard to do when its still light outside at that time.

Steve - Lets hope the buyers listen to you.

Charles - Luckily I don't have to worry about algebra just yet.

Paddy - I wish we were a little later here.  Which college is your son at?
