Water Main Break - Prince Georges County

There was a water main break in Prince Georges County Saturday near Central Avenue & the Beltway.

Due to this break, there is a boil water advisory for certain parts of Prince George's County east of the Beltway, south of Route 50, west of Church Road and North of Ritchie Marlboro Road.  Visit to view a map of the affected area.

The boil water advisory is in effect for five days.

This break is also expected to cause problems for people planning to attend Sunday's Redskins game.  Fans are encouraged to use an alternate route and allow extra time

It seems like I've heard of this happening before.  Didn't that happen earlier this year?  Does this happen often?

Yvette - this did happen earlier this year in a different part.  It was before we moved and is about 40 miles from where it happened this time.  I think the infrastructure is aging and the temperature changes always seem to put them under stress.  All the years i've lived in the DC area I have never had one of these affect me until this year where its happened twice in two completely different locations.

That really stinks, not only do you have to boil your water, but when traffic is already bad because of the games, you are now told to go a different route.
