Someone So Right by Kay Henley Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I only read Someone So Right because the author, who is a former neighbor, asked me to. I’m sometimes nervous when people I know ask me to read their book because I worry that I won’t like it. Luckily, that fear was unfounded in this case.
I remember when she got married and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the back story that led up to her wedding.
The book is told from both perspectives – bride and groom and I was interested in hearing how both perceived the significant events in their courtship.
I was slightly disappointed that the book ended without a discussion on how the marriage was going.
A huge bonus are the poems that are at the start of each chapter. They were lovely and written by the author in an earlier work. I am not usually a fan of poetry, but I was impressed enough with these to reach out to find the separate poetry book.
There were several times where I chuckled. The inner monologue she shared was often quite amusing.
Someone so right is very religious so that may be off putting to some. Despite not being overly religious myself I did not find the religious content problematic. It was simply the author telling her authentic story.
I had secretly hoped there’d be pictures of the lovely wedding at the end of the book. Overall, a quick read about 2 people finding each other following significant loss. I wish them many happy years together.
