I was diagnosed with MS nearly 2 decades ago. As I get older, I definitely notice more effects that impact me in smaller ways. Throw in thyroid issues and perimenopause and it’s not always an easy ride.
Maintaining my mobility is something that has been very important to me, so I do try to keep myself moving. Though I don’t mind exercise, I am not a self-starter in that arena so I have often found a personal trainer to be helpful to give me the push I need.
I started with Marcus from Rezults Fitness. He is amazing! Workouts were hard but I always felt I had accomplished something when we were done.
Sadly, I began to have issues with ankle pain and then shoulder pain (through no fault of the trainer). I stopped working out with Marcus in favor of physical therapy to work on some of these issues. At least get me back to existing without constant pain.
When I graduated from PT, I was struggling to get back into a workout routine and making excuses to find my way back into the gym with Marcus. At that point is when I found Jasmine, with Jazzed Up Wellness a personal trainer who came to me!

It’s hard to come up with excuses when she rings my doorbell at our designated times. Jasmine has been amazing. She keeps me moving, even when I complain. She also listens to me and on the days when my muscles are weak or tight we adjust. On the days when I’m having balance issues that’s what we work on. She is aware of the ways heat and positional change impact me, so we are always conscious of those as we exercise.

Recently I began dealing with MS hugs, a painful tightening of the trunk. She is very aware of the fact that exercises that have me twisting or reaching across my body often trigger those, so we don’t do them. She checks in with me frequently to assess how I’m feeling because she knows if exercise makes me feel worse, I’m going to stop doing it.
Recently I walked in the MS walk and Jasmine joined my team supporting me that day. Having her in my corner has been a fantastic addition to my arsenal of people caring about my wellbeing.

I’m not nearly as strong as I used to be 5-10 years ago. My muscles fatigue much easier now. BUT I am consistently moving and lifting. I actually look forward to working out with Jasmine. And now consider her a friend!
If you are looking for a personal trainer, please check out Jasmine and Jazzed Up Wellness. She is truly fantastic!
