My Review
Mother of the Bride by Quinn Avery
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I have previously read a book by Quinn Avery featuring this same detective and I enjoyed it so I was looking forward to this one.
This is a very quick read. It is more of a novella at under 200 pages. The story is immediately engaging. I did not like any of the characters – none of them seemed appealing to me.
Though the plot is interesting and there are several twists – some you might see coming and others you will not, I did not love this book.
There are aspects that felt rushed to me. I do wish the author had maybe developed some of the aspects more fully – maybe making it a full length novel.
There were also several editing mistakes that I found disappointing.
The book is well written and I like the author’s style so I will definitely read more of her work.
Though this one didn’t quite connect with me I think it is a good fit for people who like thrillers and in particular for people who are looking for a shorter read.
