Stronger Together – Week 1 Update

Stronger Together – Week 1 Update

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the successful launch of the Stronger Together Hurricane Melissa relief project. The response from donors, supporters, and volunteers has been tremendous and frankly, heart warming. Our team has been overwhelmed with emotion witnessing the magnitude of the support.

On the first Sunday of the project we served 300 warm meals, gave away 65 care packages filled with food, hygience products, and other daily essentials. We also gave away clothes and 100 tarps. Care packages were customized based on individual need and even included hand written postive messages.

We served families in Steer Town, Davis Town, Chalky Hill, Browns Town and other rural communities. In some cases we went directly into the community, other times we met the families at local schools.

Each family served was preselected on the basis that they had either lost their roof or their entire house. Community leaders and school staff in this communities helped us identify the families most in need and coordinated drop off points, etc.

The need is so vast and the community members were so grateful. Our team was honored to be able to help even in this small way.
