The God of Good Looks by Breanne Mc Ivor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was May 2024 Book club pick. I started reading this on kindle then switched to audio because I had some commute time this week. I am sooo glad I did that because the narration was great and the accents made the characters come alive for me. I laughed out loud several times and I found myself wondering if I would have reacted the same way if I had been reading myself.
The story is told in 2 points of view which I enjoyed. The portrayal of Trinidad is not pretty but it is raw and real. There was a large focus on food and makeup. Sometimes the descriptions of both of these were excessive to me but not in a way that detracted from the story.
I enjoyed learning about Bianca & Obadiah and watching them evolve and grow as the story went all. I found the main characters to be likable and authentic.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed both listening to and reading this book. I was especially happy to read it since one of my reading challenges this year is to read more Caribbean authors. I look forward to future novels from this author.
