2023 in Review – Concerts

2023 in Review – Concerts

Concerts are my thing! I joke with my friends all the time that I am a reliable concert date. This year I was able to see several great shows.

New Edition

I am a dedicated New Edition fan so you can always assume I’m at the show when they are in town. This time they were also on tour with Tank & Keith Sweat. I enjoyed the show with my girls. We were hoping to see them next year at their residency in Vegas, but the tickets have been difficult to find.

Lionel Ritchie & Earth Wind and Fire

This tour was called the Sing Along all night tour and that is exactly what it was. So fun to listen to songs from my childhood and teen years. This was my first time seeing both acts. They sounded great and had amazing energy.

Wu-Tang Clan

A girlfriend of mine invited us to the WuTang concert. She had club seats. This was my first time seeing a concert from a private box at Capital Center (only my second time ever at any venue). I have to say that made it even better – being able to enjoy in relative privacy surrounded by friends. I feel ashamed to admit that I knew very few of WuTang’s songs. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert nonetheless. NAS was also a performer, this was my second time seeing him perform.

D-Nice

One of my girlfriends invited me to see D-Nice at the Kennedy Center. It was my first time at the Kennedy Center Opera House. It was beautiful. While D-Nice was on the turntables he had several guests singling and being accompanied by an orchestra – this included Kem, Shanice, MC Lyte and several others. The highlight for me was Machel Montano. As a Caribbean girl it was an honor to see all the Trinidadian flags on display and to hear the music in the very fancy Opera House. I thoroughly enjoyed this show.

For the first time in years I have no concert plans on the horizon! I’ll have to remedy that. I look forward to seeing some fun shows in 2024.
