My Review
Creative Sparks: 21 Affirmations and Inspiration for Creativity at Midlife by Sharon J. Burton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Creative Sparks focuses on the transitions experienced at midlife, encouraging people over 50 to embrace their creativity. From the author in the introduction “The intention of this book is to serve as a guide to help you remember your personal power as a creative, especially one who is
rediscovering or discovering your creative interests later in life, or after experiencing life without or with little involvement in a creative expression.”
The book is divided into 21 affirmations (and a bonus) that help someone to focus on their creativity. Each affirmation includes journal activities that help support the individual’s creative journey. These affirmations include “It’s never too late to pursue a creative life”, “Fear and Anxiety have no power over me”, and “The Only Opinion of my creativity that matters is mine”.
Included at the end are the next steps that someone could take to continue along the process.
Overall if you are trying to recapture or create a creative identity this book will be a helpful guide to navigate that process.
