A Thousand Boy Kisses – Book Review

A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I downloaded and read A Thousand Boy Kisses in one sitting. Though the subject matter is quite heavy, I think teenagers would love this book. It gave me similar vibes to “The Fault in Our Stars”.

This is a very emotional book. I think I was about 1/3 of the way through the first time I cried. And I blubbered towards the end. The story is very predictable. You absolutely know what is going to happen but that did not lessen the emotional impact for me.

This is a young adult romance, and the writing is very melodramatic at times and quite cheesy in parts. I rolled my eyes several times. I also found the characters were not typical of the ages they were portraying. Sometimes I found myself thinking “would an 8 year old really do that?” or “would a teenager really talk like this?”.

Overall, though it is definitely not literary genius, A Thousand Boy Kisses was a quick, emotional read. It has been quite a while since a book managed to evoke so many tears from me.
