The Maid – Book Review

The Maid – Book Review

The Maid by Nita Prose

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I finished “The Maid” only because it was my Book club book. I have to say my main takeaway is that I’m really glad I didn’t spend my hard earned $14.99 on this awful book.

After book club discussion I found myself even more annoyed by this book and was tempted to drop a star 🙂 One of the questions was whether this was a plot driven or character driven novel. My answer was “neither”. There is very little plot despite the relatively interesting description of the book. At one point I was reading and I literally said to myself how are there still so many pages left when it was clear the “mystery” was wrapping up. The characters were flat and one dimensional. There were heavy subjects covered in “The Maid” and I found myself with zero emotional investment in the main character or any of the characters in the book.

There were also massive plot holes. I will not discuss them because I do not want to spoil the story for those who might enjoy this. But, I do not like when authors write books without doing the slightest of research. This book just felt like lazy storytelling.
